Ourbeautiful lake was created in 1940 with the completion of the historic Pensecola Dam on the Grand ( also known as the Neosh ) River. The world’s longest multi[ple arch dam creates the massive reservoir holding 46,500 surface acres at an average surface level of 742 feet above sea level. Tours of the dam are offered in the summer. Grand Lake is about 67 miles long and has 1,300 miles of shoreline. It is one of the BEST FISHERIES in the United States. When you travel to Grove, often called the “Gateway to Grand Lake”, from the north, you may cross over Sailboat Bridge to enter with it’s pedestrian and bike lanes. Grove is the largest city on the lake with many fine restaurants, specialty and craft shops and antique stores. The city boat several events throughout out the year including Music Festivals, the Grand Lake Boat & Travel Show, the annual Pelican Festival and more such as a Mississippi style paddle wheel river boat, full service marinas, golf courses, parks, swimming pools, picnic shelters, camping , historic museums and nationally renowned botanical gardens.
