Power of Grand Lake Water

The power fo water being released from the Grand Lake spillways is nothing less than AWESOME!!! When heavy rains in the flood pool collection area raise the lake level, the elevation is controlled by releasing water. The noise pf all this power can de deafening. A trip to witness this event is well worth the drive. Grand Lake Morning Sounds

The early morning sunrise is special here at Grand Lake. It’s time to set back and enjoy the sounds of nature waking up and greeting the new day. It’s a time to get lost within yourself, to contemplate and stare out over the horizon. The beauty of it all is mesmerizing. At this time of day a surprise is always possible and something new to discover just by observing. Fish jumping. a turtle popping its head out of the water. Birds of many kinds fly or swim by.

Come On Out & Play

At Grand Lake fun is to be had everywhere and boating along with all water sports is a big part of it. Memorial Day Week-End is the first of the three major holidays celebrated at Grand Lake. This scene is at the tip of Monkey Island by the Shangri-la Marina on a very windy  and busy day from a few years ago. Don’t worry though because there is lots of room to roam on our huge lake being over 60 mile long and having 1,300 miles of shoreline. Grand Lake Fun in the Sun!!!  So as our song says “Come On Out & Play”!!!
